The amount of guests and whether they’ll be bringing plus ones will greatly affect your spend on the party. Have a think about this before you start inviting your whole Facebook list, as this might seem like a good idea at the time, but could end up costing you quite a bit more over what you can afford. Have a think – is it a more personal party where it’ll be better to just have close friends around, or is it a roll the red carpet out event for a product launch, where maybe more is better.

You can talk with your event caterer about your budget and needs and they can advise you on the best menu. For a lunchtime celebration you could select shared platters and afternoon tea styled foods. A more formal evening event may need a more filling three course meal or buffet style option.

Holding a party in a venue will call for a little more thought into how you’ll entertain people after the food is finished.
